Most items can be returned within 90 days of receiving them. We recommend you keep your packaging for at least the first 90 days after purchase.

How to Return By Mail:

  1. Sign in to Your Account then select Account
  2. Select "Start a Return" next to the order you want to begin a return for
  3. Select the item(s)
  4. Select the reason for returning the item(s)
  5. Select if you want a refund or replacement and then "Continue"
  6. Select "Return By Mail"
  7. Review refund summary and select "Finish Return". You may see the option to "Agree to Early Refund Terms". This means that you get your refund earlier but agree to return promptly or are recharged.
  8. Print the pre-paid return label for your item. Without this label, we won’t be able to process the return. Don’t have a printer? You can always return the item to a store.
  9. Package the item along with all original packing materials and accessories and mail the item as directed. You’ll receive a refund or replacement once we receive the item back, if the item is in stock.

Please note when returning an item by mail:
  • The process of returning an item by mail takes 2-3 weeks in most cases.
  • We recommend insuring your return package, as we cannot refund an item we don't receive.
  • A returned item must be identical to the brand, specifications, item description, and condition of your original purchase.
  • Replacement items will be sent to the original "ship to" address upon receipt of the original item at our Returns Center, as long as the item is still in stock.
  • If there is an error on our part related to your order, we will issue a credit for your order and any applicable shipping and gift-wrapping charges.

Returning Items Without a Receipt

No receipt? No problem, You Have Few Choices:

  • You’ll have the option of a cash refund (if the purchase was under $25) or
  • A Gift Card for the amount of the purchase (if $25 or over) or
  • An even exchange for the product
  • As applicable, we follow any manufacturer’s warranties
  • You can make up to three "No Receipt" returns within a 45 day period

Walmart's No Receipt policy applies to items returned in a store only.

Where to find Receipts

If an item you received from is damaged or defective, you can return it to us by mail or at any Walmart store.

Returning Hazardous Materials

How Do I Safely Return Hazardous Materials?

When returning items that are considered hazardous, special rules must be followed. Most hazardous materials may not be returned by mail, but you can return them to your nearest Walmart store.

To determine if your item can be returned by mail, follow the steps to return an item. If your item can be returned by mail, it will show up on the “Select an Item” page. If it doesn’t appear there, it cannot be returned by mail.

If your item is labeled ORM-D, it's still considered hazardous, but you may be able to return it by mail.

  • Keep your original packaging for at least the first 90 days after purchase. Some returns might require you to return the item in its original container; otherwise, special ORM-D packaging from the post office will be needed. (a postal worker can assist you.)
  • If you want to return an item and you aren't sure if your item is hazardous, please email Customer Service for assistance, or return your item in person at your nearest Walmart store. You can also check the USPS website to review current mailing restrictions.
  • If your items are not hazardous, please do not use a box with hazardous materials labels like the ones pictured below, as it is a shipping violation. Please use a different box or return your items directly to a Walmart store.

Returning Multiple Items

If more than one type of item in an order needs to be returned, a separate shipping label must be created for each type of item.

For smaller items, you may package the items in the same box with all the separate shipping labels enclosed.

Returning Gifts

Exchange your gift for something else or receive a refund:

  • We’re currently unable to exchange or provide refunds for your gift via mail. Just bring the item to the Customer Service desk at your local Walmart. Be sure to bring all original packaging materials and accessories.

  • Bring the packing slip or receipt that came with the gift. If you don’t have a receipt, please provide the order number or the sender’s email address (if the item came from
  • We'll give you store credit in the form of a gift card that you can spend on something new. If you have the receipt and are within the guidelines of the No Receipt Return Policy, you may also have the option to receive cash back.

The gift you received is defective and needs to be replaced:

  • You may be able to replace your gift with an identical item at a Walmart store. To see if they carry that item, search on and see if it’s “In stock” in your store.

Returning Oversized Items

Oversized items can be returned to any Walmart store, unless noted in the Return Guidelines by Department

  • Large items such as furniture, mattresses, play sets, oversized table games and treadmills must be shipped by freight.

Gift Card Returns and Refunds

We’re sorry, but except in states where required by law, our Gift Cards and eGift Cards can’t be exchanged for cash. However, if you return merchandise purchased with a Walmart Gift Card, the refunded amount will be credited directly back to your Walmart Gift Card.

Please do not throw away your Walmart plastic Gift Card unless you are sure of your purchase, and make certain you save your Walmart eGift Card email.

Product Care Plans and Warranties

If you decide you no longer want a warranty you bought for a product, or decide to return the product itself, you can return the warranty within the limits of our Returns Policy.

Warranties and Product Care Plans cannot be returned in store, even if the related product is under warranty to a store contact Customer Service.

You can also cancel your warranty or Product Care Plan by surrendering it or providing written notice to: N.E.W. at Product Care Plan (Wal-Mart), PO Box 1818, Sterling, VA 20167.

  • If the warranty or Product Care Plan is cancelled within thirty (30) days of the receipt of this Plan, you will receive a full refund of the price paid for the plan provided no service has been performed.
  • After thirty (30) days, you will receive a pro rata refund, less the cost of any service received.

If you cancel an order that contains a warranty or Product Care Plan, we will automatically refund you for the warranty or Plan. Contact Customer Service if you do not receive an email regarding your refund within 24 hours of your item being confirmed as cancelled.

If you did not receive your warranty email after purchasing a Product Care Plan, please call Walmart Product Care Plan support at 1-877-968-6391. Be sure to check your junk mail or spam folder to see if the email was delivered there.

Refund for Canceled Orders

How Do I Get Refunded for a Canceled Order?

Credit Card, ATM, Debit, or Check Card Refunds

  • Your financial institution authorized the payment and placed a hold on your account at the time you placed your order
  • This authorization hold temporarily decreases your available funds
  • Your account is not actually billed until the order ships
  • If the order is canceled and does not ship, the hold will expire in accordance to the timeframe set by your financial institution, usually within 5 business days.

Gift Card, eGift Card, or PayPal Refunds

A refund will be issued to your original method of payment and the funds should be available within 5 business days.

Cash Refunds

If you used the Pay with Cash payment method to pay for a order in a Walmart store, you can choose to pick up your refund at a customer service counter, or have us mail you a refund check. You will receive an email requesting your refund preference if an item is canceled.
