Return Policy

Holiday Return Policy (does NOT include Marketplace items)

Some orders placed between October 28, 2018 and December 25, 2018 will have an extended return timeframe allowing them to be returnable later.
 
Many items purchased between Oct. 28th and Dec. 25th are gifts, this extended return timeframe allows time to return unwanted gifts
  • If an item has a 15 or 30 day return window, we extended the return time so that it does not start until December 26
  • As the 90 day return window already covers the holidays, there is no change to it and the 90 days starts the day the item is delivered

Return to a Local Store

Start an in-Store Return:

  • Start in Your Account Opens in new window
  • In Purchase History, find the item you wish to return and select Start a Return OR select See Details and select Return or Replace in the order details. Only items that are eligible for return will have this option. Only items that are within the Return Policy and available for return will have this option
  • Select the item(s) to be returned
  • Choose the reason
  • Choose if you would like a return or replacement (some items will be available for return only or replacement only) then continue. Only return is available in-store. If you wish to replace the item you must first return it in store and then purchase a replacement. It is best to contact the store to make sure they have the exact item.   • Select Return to Store (if available to return in-store the option is there, if not it must be returned by mail) then select Continue
  • Select Finish

Using Mobile Express Returns

You can now return items purchased through Walmart.com and some in-store purchases using Mobile Express Returns. This feature allows you to start the return from your mobile device then finish the return at the store.
What you need:
  • To use for Walmart.com purchases, you must have a Walmart.com account and the Walmart.com app
  • To use for in-store purchases, you must have used Walmart Pay or scanned and uploaded your in-store paper receipt using the app

Mobile Express step-by-step:
  • Open the Walmart app, select Account then Purchase History
  • Select the order which contains the item(s) to be returned
  • Select Start a Return
  • Select the specific item(s) to be returned
  • Select the reason for the return then select Continue
  • For Walmart .com purchases - select if you prefer a refund or replacement then Next (not all items can be replaced)
  • For In-store Purchases - the only option is to return, no selection needed
  • Select Continue to confirm the items you wish to return
  • For Walmart.com purchases, select the return method as store to use Mobile Express Returns in-store or select mail to send back. In-store purchases will default to store, no selection needed.
  • Review the details and select Accept and Finish
  • If you choose to return in-store, you will receive a confirmation screen and be directed to the store to complete the transaction
  • Remember to take your mobile device with you to the store. At the store, open the app and select Return Ready
  • Go to the Customer Service desk and locate the Mobile Express Lane
  • Notice the QR code scanner located on the PIN pad. Scan the QR code, the system is connecting
  • The associate completes the return and you receive confirmation in the app that the return is complete

Return by Mail


 
Start a Return by Mail:
  • Start in Your Account Opens in new window
  • In Purchase History, find the item you wish to return and select Start a Return OR select See Details and select Return or Replace in the order details. Only items that are eligible for return will have this option. Only items that are within the Return Policy and available for return will have this option
  • Select the item(s) to be returned
  • Choose the reason
  • Choose if you would like a return or replacement (some items will be available for return only or replacement only) then continue
  • Select Return by Mail (if available to return by mail the option is there) then select Continue
  • Refund or Replace Options:
    • If you selected refund - review the summary, choose whether to select the Early Refund Terms, then select Finish
    • If you selected replacement - select Finish and the item is ordered and you will receive a confirmation email. Replacement items will be sent to the original "ship to" address upon receipt of the original item at our Returns Center, as long as the item is still in stock
  • Print return label and attach to the box, package up item and accessories, then return to a FedEx or USPS location. If you cannot print the label, return the item to any Walmart Store
  • The process of returning an item by mail takes 2-3 weeks in most cases
  • We recommend insuring your return package, as we cannot refund an item we don't receive
  • A returned item must be identical to the brand, specifications, item description, and condition of original purchase
  • Replacement items will be sent to the original "ship to" address upon receipt of the original item at our Returns Center, as long as the item is still in stock

Item you purchased in a Store:

Bring the item you wish to return to the Customer Service desk. Bring all original packing materials and accessories. If available, bring the receipt that came with the item.

Our policy is to refund to original form or payment for receipted returns.

Receipted Returns:
  • Credit Card: If the item was purchased using a credit card, any refund is required to be issued to that same credit card. If the original credit card is not present and is not available through scanning the TC number on the receipt, the refund will be processed onto a shopping card/gift card
  • Debit Card: If the item was purchased using a debit card and the receipt shows debit tend, the refund should be placed back on the debit card if available, or cash can be provided. If the receipt does not show debit tend the refund is required to be issued to the same debit card. If the debit card is not present and is not available through scanning the TC number on the receipt, the refund will be processed onto a shopping card/gift card

Non- Receipted Returns:
Walmart will accept a non-receipted return or exchange provided it meets the following conditions:
  • To return or exchange items without a receipt, you are required to present a valid government issued photo ID (that has not been altered in any way). Information from the customer ID will be stored in a secured database of returns activity that Walmart uses to authorize returns
  • The refund verification process accepts the return. If an item is returned without a receipt and the refund verification process accepts it, the following options are available:
    • If available, you may send the merchandise to the manufacturer for repair
    • The merchandise may be exchanged for another item
    • The merchandise may be returned and a cash refund provided if the refund value of the returned item is less than $25
    • The merchandise will be returned and a shopping/gift card provided to the customer if the refund value of the returned merchandise is equal to or greater than $25 in value

Refunds

  • Refunds in-store and by mail will be issued to the original method of payment
  • Funds should be available within 5 business days
  • If your order is canceled and does not ship, the hold will expire in accordance to the timeframe set by your financial institution, usually within 5 business days
  • Credit card, ATM, debit or check card refunds - your financial institution authorized the payment and placed a hold on your account at the time you placed your order however, your account is not actually billed until the order ships
  • Gift Card, eGift Card or PayPal refunds - a refund will be issued to your original method of payment and the funds should be available within 5 business days.
  • Pay with Cash refunds where a Walmart.com order is paid for in a Walmart store can be refunded in-store only. You can choose to pick up your refund at a customer service counter, or have us mail you a refund check. You will receive an email requesting your refund preference if an item is canceled

Hazardous Materials

When returning items that are considered hazardous, special rules must be followed. Most hazardous materials may not be returned by mail, but you can return them to a Walmart store.

To determine if your item can be returned by mail, follow the steps to return an item. If your item can be returned by mail, you'll be able to select the Return by Mail option, complete the process and print a return label. If not, please return the item to a Walmart store.

If your item is labeled ORM-D, it is considered hazardous, but you may be able to return it by mail.


Keep your original packaging for at least the first 90 days after purchase. Some returns might require you to return the item in its original container; otherwise, special ORM-D packaging from the post office will be needed.

Multiple Items

  • If all items fit in one box - start a return from Your Account Opens in new window , select all items you wish to return and print the one shipping label. All items must belong to the same order. Items from multiple orders cannot be returned with one shipping label
  • If there are multiple items that fit in multiple boxes, start a return from Your Account Opens in new window , select the items you will return in box 1, print and attach the label. Go back into Your Account, select the items that will be returned in box 2, print and attach the label. Each label is related to the contents in that box. All items must belong to the same order.
